Hello. I want to play a game or two or three or maybe a lot more of Quake 1 (net quake, ctf and maybe some dm). Is anyone else interested in doing this with me at some point? Would be so cool to do some matches on ctf1, and well alot of other maps!!!!!!!!!!!!!! respond if you want to play some quake!!!!!!!!!

I will if I can find the cd's, then all the patches and stuff. Will it even run on WinXP?

Sadly, long ago I lost all the custom textures I made for our uniforms. Maybe someone still has them!

v_ftp has the install files on it, its only about 30 megs or something (yes, that was the entire size of the game minus the CTF pack back in 1996). And yes it runs on winxp!

I'll play if the ping to whatever server is low enough. I don't think I could handle a high ping when I used to play on a server with a 1 ping. Those were the days.

I'll play wherever, as long as my ping is... well i honestly don't care! I really wanna play bad. But that does bring up another question, and that is where to play. Can anyone with an appropriate connection manage to get a dedicated running? It's not that tough, fairly simple to set up. Just need someone on a T1 or T3 or similar to run it for a few hours =)

Thunder Chicken is going to be setting up a dedicated at his work come Monday... plus i have found 2 or 3 other servers that still run, so now we just need to find a time to play....!

Oh, if you need the ctf pak files and winquake, go to http://www.gunslingers.org and go the files section. Has everything you need.

Hoo man, where are all the old help files for customizing n stuff. For starters, even with brightness at max, when I put the resolution at 1024, it's so dark I can't see a thing.

I wish I'd saved all my old cfg files, etc.

Here is a link that has most or all of the commands to customize your config file, have no idea about the brightness... http://www.zedtoo.demon.co.uk/quake/q32.html

Also, if you are so inclined, here is a link to a name making program!

http://game.mari-el.ru/files.html

Get the file called qstrings.zip. When you use it, it will generate a file, open the file up afteryou make it and insert the word "name" w/o the quotation marks before the ascii characters generated. Quake shall be played soon!
