Im surprised Ataturk placed so high as his legacy has pretty much been confied to Turkey.

Einsteing places lower then I thought he should and I am disapointed that neither Goddard nor Von Braun got a mention in the science department. All in all a thought provoking list.

Hah. Tesla not in the list is laughable. He only just electrified the entire world. Granted a lot of it was during the 1890s.

castro over lenin? Kindof surprising there too...specially if you ask what was the one thing about the early 1900's that continued to play a major role in Europe (and now Asia) until 89, was so scary that fascists and businessmen united to stop it (Hi Mussolini), and led to one of the platforms of that little austrian guy with a thing against the "Bolshevik bacillus".

Where did TIME poll? Surprised not to see a Jackie Robinson or Muhammed Ali...

It is clear that the poll was not just in the U.S., primarily due to the amazingly high response for Yuri Gagarin. In the U.S. we barely even learn what Gagarin did, while in much of the rest of the world he is very well known.

John Galt showing up in the heroes list is kind of funny, too.
