Machine Head is one of those bands that people like to categorize as 'underground' simply because they're relatively unknown except to those that love them. The 'best band you never heard of' syndrome. Referred by many as 'Black Sabbath 2000', Machine Head is pure. They echew image in favor of musicality. To this day none of their CD's have ever had their pictures in them, not because of some secret thing like Kiss without makeup, but because they want people to focus on the music.
This new CD isn't going to break them out into the spotlight anytime soon either. Don't get me wrong, it's an amazing collection of songs, but in today's nicely pre-packaged, easy to swallow 'pop/nu-metal' world, these guys just around going to get any play on the radio, on mtv, or anywhere else most people get their music these days. This is BY FAR their most accessible CD too and would be a good introduction to the band if you're so inclined.
If you like bands like Mudvayne or Drowning Pool, you'll like these guys.
