New album just came out on Tuesday here, not sure if it's getting a release in the US or not. Ian Thornley is the singer/guitarist/writer from Big Wreck, which broke up awhile back. They were mostly an American band, who all met I think at some music college in Boston, a famous one that I can't remember atm. Thornley himself is from I believe Toronto. I don't think they ever got much success in the States, but their two albums did alright in Canada, with a few decent hits. Dunno why they broke up.

Long and short I am a big fan of Thornley (the band or person). He is amazing live, both on his guitar and vocally. Few singers sound as good live as he does, I was shocked when I first saw them. His band also has the bassist from The Watchmen (another awesome band), the drummer from Edwin And The Pressure, and some other dude that isn't familiar. They are on Chad Kroger's record label, but don't hold that against them. Thornley has been buds with him since before Nickelback got their huge success.

So check out these two songs, if you like middle of the road, somewhat progressive rock:
