In my part of the country we use both 'soda' and 'pop'. Anyone remember "The Pop Shop"?

P.S. Usually 'soda' is positive and 'pop' is negative, such as:
"I'd like a soda."
"I'm sick of pop."

In the south, they're a big fan of "cold drink" and coke, but my hometown of Chicago, its definitely Pop

Its coke around here, or soda--Pop is A) music and B) the man who raised me.

Coke is used for general reference, wanting a specific flavor is asked for by name.
"Sure, I'd like a coke."
"Ok, what kind?"
"Let me have a Dr. Pepper."
But from the selections above, soda (Soda water) is the better description.
