They must have started filming soon as the corpse was cold. Not that that is going to stop me from seeing it.

You're a jerk Tari....a complete kneebiter :D

Wonder if I'll be able to get a mug of ATS at the concession stand.

Hopefully I'll be able to enjoy the movie. Got a pretty solid picture in my head of what everything looks like already. Damn the imagination anyway :P

Anyone else have the old tv show/movie?

I think mine is on RM, sadly :P
I'm looking forward to seeing the robot. There's something magical about a repressed/depressed robot.

Vidmer, as far as I know, the dude who wrote the books was also writing the screenplay for the movie. Not sure if he finished it or not, or how much it was changed after he died, though.

no, Dirk is directing it - the author of the book is credited on the IMDB (http://imdb.com/title/tt0371724/fullcredits#writers) as one of two people who wrote the screenplay, so yeah...

I don't think it will suck. Adams had a pretty decent amount of control in the project. I'm not sure how far along it was or how much might have changed since his untimely passing but I doubt that they would have screwed with it too much.

His brand of humor assures that the movie will be a huge hit with some people while others just won't find it funny at all. The only reason I might have for not thoroughly loving it is that he did such a wonderful job of storytelling that my "vision" of Arthur, Ford, Zaphod and the rest might not coincide with his. For instance I always pictured Ford as being sort of Terry Gilliam-ish.......so we will just have to see. If nothing else it gives me the excuse to pull out my dog-eared copies and reread yet again heh.

Yep, found it on Novatina!!!

Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy -- eps 1 - 6.

It's quite good, really! It does have the right Ford Prefect for the job.

I have... the old tv series on DVD, the albums, the radio shows on tape, the script signed by Douglas Adams when I met him at a book signing, the old Infocom text adventure, the not-so good Starship Titanic, and all the books he's written.

When I saw the trailer for the new movie, my reaction was I didn't like it. Too slick looking. I liked the low-budget feel of the old ones, it was more in keeping with the style of the radio shows and all that.

But, fan that I am since 1980 or so, I'll be going to see it, because I have to.

Yup....that about sums my feeling up exactly. I'm rereading Salmon of doubt atm....which I started yesterday and will likely finish tomorrow hehe. Going to have to give the guide another perusing before I see the movie.
