((I wasn't able to post in the music forum for some reason, so I'm posting it here.))

Um, yeah...So, has everyone heard of The Shins? If so, wonderful! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. If not, I HIGHLY encourage you to lend your ear to any one of their catchy tunes.

They are from New Mexico, and have a great "garage" type sound. Highly melodic, some would even say pop, but not the "run of the mill" type pop you hear nowadays.

Some of my favorite songs by them include 'Young Pilgrims,' New Slang,' and 'Pink Bullets.' Check out 'Gone for Good' as well, it has a little southwestern country flare to it. For something a little more fast-paced, listen to 'Fighting in a Sack.'

A BIG part of my attraction to this band is their lyrics. Abstract at times, yes, but overall very original, creative, and, of course, elusive.

Sorry if it seems like I'm writing a press release for them, but I just thought I would spread the good word. =) Music can soothe the soul, mind, and body, and the shins do it for me. Enjoy!

p.s. If you only have the energy to track down and listen to one of their songs, make it 'New Slang'. It seems to be a pretty popular one amogst fans and non-fans alike, and was even featured on the 'Garden State' soundtrack.

I'll look into that, I know my shins could use some soothing. the rest of me probably could too.

I'm not really into the whole new-folk music thing. I get so fucking sick of people talking about Sufjan Stevens that it ruins any potentially good music coming out of that genre for me :\

kind of off topic, but yeah
