I was only able to stay for the first heat before I headed down to Wilmington, DE, for a charity event (pics further down). I have a few hundred pics but here are a few:

Love the Noble, other than that ridiculous bolted on wing.

No idea why people do that to perfectly hot cars. Not a lot of work can really be done to that engine that is legal (nitro is about it) that would require that much extra downforce, so I can only guess it was done for looks. They really shouldn't let blind people and 10 year olds help them with the looks of their car.

anyone have the new BMW M5 there? Push a button to get 500 horsepower and 10 mpg!

and yes I blame Eomer for my BMWphile status

nope, no M5s. i haven't seen any at the shows.... yet

The new M5 is lovely, a bit annoying at times with the controls etc, the ride is way too harsh for the performance return, and not much outstanding when not in M mode but it's a nice car nonetheless. SMG controls are very good in it, really responsive although not as good as in the new Ferrari 599 (wait list on that is brutal unless you want to drop an extra £50k) but then again it's not the same type of car really and not in the same price class.

I don't know if anyone here watches Top Gear, not sure if it is available in the US or if any download it, but this week they reviewed the ProDrive P2. 400 horsepower, 0-62 in about 3.8secs, mind-boggling grip and could be had for about £40k if they get talked into putting it into full production which is Corvette price with much better track performance (straight line speed is close, but cornering and all out track performance is much faster with the p2).

how heavy is it? I have to DL Top Gear to view the episodes. They use to show it on the Discovery channel here in the States but I haven't seen it on for about a year.

I totally agree, I saw that wing and wanted to vomit. Virtually no production cars really gain anything from downforce, because they aren't gonna be cornering at high enough speeds anyway. A F1 car will get around a couple thousand pounds of downforce, a production car maybe a hundred or two (and they weigh two or three times as much). It's just stupid.

Heh, I just set you on the path. It's your car that's made you addicted. Once you drive one, you won't want to go to anything else.

about 1100 kg

for Top Gear, just use bittorrent, I believe you can get almost every episode from this series (5 so far) from filelist or torrentspy.

you know what's sad is I keep lookin at that Miata...

Back when it was just my wife and I, she had a 99 Mazda Miata MX5 Limited. Veruca would always be going to San Antonio with some friends to do autocross and I figured that one day I would get my wife's Miata to tool around with

then we had a baby:P

i used to create souped up Miatas in Forza and GT's just to get that little car back:) top down on 2222 that thing was a blast

The Nobles are built for the track which is why the wings are placed on there. For the owners that garage queen their cars and it has the wing, oh well.

I've got a red 97 Miata, manual, 65k miles, everything on the suspension modified ... want to buy it? I've had it for 6 years and autocrossed it for several years but I'm looking to move up to an S2000.

You can add a trailer and bring the kid along :D

Yeah I suppose it's not possible that it could be called a "wing" by any organizations... like f1... or that it might be called that in any other countries...

I suppose you also call the boot a "trunk" or something....

Isn't the Noble the car you have to put a motor in states side? Thought I remembered that from somewhere.

That 550 is so sweet.

Very cool pictures on the Dino btw.

Yeah, there are several motor choices. This particular owner went with a V8. I'll go through my pics and post the engine shot.

That 69 Camaro with the blower has to get about 4 miles to the gallon. I bet the fun factor on that thing is a 10++++

I'm partial to the orange one though.

It's a shame new cars will walk all over the performance of these "muscle cars".

Actually.. at the speeds most people would be driving it.. It's just drag.

when I was in HS, there was a guy down the street who basically mothballed a black stingray. I used to daydream about going up to his house and asking him if he wanted to let a dumb kid keep that thing active.

That silver 'ray made me remember that:)
