Possible way to make an effective mutilate build with the switch to it they just implemented.
Some of the talents are just preference but you can see the core I am aiming at.
The iniative is to allow a fast 5 point on opening.

quick 5 point finisher, stun locking, knocking out clothies quickly, and then spaming snd at every chance to keep the 10% damage bonus?
mutilate looks like fun :)

Yeah I am really interested in how that 50% will apply to the damage.. is it an end result 50% more or a base 50% more. If its end after AP+weapondamage+bonusdamage... it could be pretty sick! Not too mention that you are getting that 10% extra damage...
The change to the skill means seal fate is pretty damn worthless for mutilate but you already get 2 CP's for the same energy as backstab so no real loss.
That extra 5 points means you can get some of the cool skills like fleetfooted!

still trying to figure out blade twisting though, it'll look like it's only good in pvp and against runners. Now I would like to use something that can snare a runner easier, but spending 5 points deep in to combat for another snare.
I am liking surprize attacks though :D

Surprise attacks... its a 5% chance to do 5% extra damage non-crittable. It is fairly craptastic of a 41 point talent. The pre-leak talent shadow-strikes was a much better talent for combat. Added shadow damage to attacks against dazed opponents... gave you a reason to take blade twisting.
Now does anyone know if being dazed will be changed to lower your resilience and make crits land more often? If so blade twisting is good... if not its a waste since we don't have an attack anymore that takes advantage of the daze.
I saw some math done and a 41/20 build actually looks viable. You lose the 20% opprotunity bonus from backstab but gain a lot more white damage with precision and duelwield spec.
Yeah so.. I'm pretty cool, so I checked out this thread.
But when I open it, all I see is a bunch of rogue bs?
What gives!?

Yeah that is what I was thinking after doing the math. the only 41 point talent that is promising is mutilate imo. I would like a combat ability that gives a bonus on dazed targets though, make blade twisting a viable option.

Now if only expose armor stacks with sunder armor. Oh that's right, they changed it but you rogues bitched cause you wouldn't be able to get clothies down to zero anymore! ahaha!

I wanted to strangle the fucks that caused that change >< ... it would have been a very nice raid dps increase for all physical damage. And in pvp it would have taken off a huge chunk of hunter/paly/warrior armor which is who you should be using expose armor on anyway if you have that many free CP's/wrist
/edit/
Oh and sy... seal fate is a total waste of points for mutilate build as it will have around 30% chance to crit... meaning you are spending 5 points for a 30% chance to add one CP. Very much a waste of points.
For a more raid oriented mutilate build..
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/bc-rogue/talents.html?3050231050521320210510053052000050000 00000000000000000000000000000 (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/bc-rogue/talents.html?3050231050521320210510053052000050000 00000000000000000000000000000)
You lose opprotunity ( so 20% damage to mutilate) but you gain 5% to hit and 50% extra damage to offhand on all attacks... if this affects the damage your offhand does w/mutilate its actually only a small loss to overall mutilate damage.. mainhand is 20% lower whereas offhand is 5% higher than with opp. But your white damage is going to be much more considerable. The 3 points in imp backstab is for poison immune mobs... you can ignore those and get 2 in imp sprint 1 more in something else and shift 3 from lightning reflexes to imp gouge if you want more pvpability.

the sealed fate build that does open up for you, is 30/31.
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/bc-rogue/talents.html?3050231050501005000000053052020550100 20010000000000000000000000000
I like evasion and sprint, I do use them a lot...so it works out really.
Blade Flurry, Adrenaline Rush, Cold Blood, and Sealed Fate.
Hard to really tell until we see some actual test info from the 40 point talents :)

For swords/maces/fists yes that is a helluva build... sadly to get that with C-dags you have to ignore AR and weapon ex pretty much.. damn you opprotunity... you make more sense in the assasination/combat tree.

I just thought it'd be kinda cool to get 3 combo points with 1 mutilate! =P

Yeah the original version of mutilate lent itself to seal fate very well. Instead of the 50% damage bonus it was 30% extra crit on poisoned targets... so basically the same crit rating as backstab.
The build that I included initiative gives a 75% chance on cheap shot for 3 points then follow up with a mutilate and you have 5 points right off the bat. That gives you a perpetual stun of about 8-9 seconds or can evis/deadly throw if its a mage that blinks away :D

The spec I had put in had imp bs and dagger spec, but you get the idea. Combat daggers would definatly benefit a lot from the build.
Remove imp bs, take improved ss, remove a point in imp dodge, take 2 points in aggression, remove dagger spec for whatever weapons you want to use....and with last nights latest toy, I'll probably be fist spec for a lil while at least :)
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/bc-rogue/talents.html?3050231050501005000000230550000050105 22010000000000000000000000000
Can always move 8 points around from Imp Dodge and Imp Parry for whatever you like, but I like not getting hit as much, imp evasion and imp sprint are nice to have though "just in case", so they are options
Either or, the extra CP generation to the combat build will just make a lot more finishers, and that means more dps :D...Fist would probably benefit most because of the extra crit chance imo...that is, if you decide to not use daggers.

going to bump this
rogues got a new BC talent, Combat Potency, 5 ranks
Successful Offhanded attacks have a 20% chance to restore 3,6,9,12,15 energy
This replaced Blade Twisting, and they put that as a 2 rank 30 point talent.
So now, with a 1/5 chance to gain energy off your offhanded swings, this shows promise to the combat tree...I'm still wondering about Surprize Attacks though, wonder how it will work. But still two viable talents to take for combat. Which is really boosting instants quite well.
some people were parsing out that you gain about 2 energy a second, which is a 20% increase to the base regen. Which imo is huge.
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/bc-rogue/talents.html?3050231050000000000003200550100050105 023210510000000000000000000000
With that, I have nfc what to spend the last talent point on...lol

This is a nice talent but I think it should replace vigor ><. Vigor is a POS talent as once the opening move is performed, you are no really going to ever get a chance to get back to 110 energy.
A talent like this fills the role vigor should have as energy regeneration. Grouping it with the offhand makes it fit in the combat tree, but assassination build is so much more yellow damage oriented, that energy regeneration naturally should be in that tree.
Combat is white damage heavy and energy benefits it little beyond slice and dice... but who knows... combat daggers might actually get to eviscerate every once and awhile with enough relent and potency procs :D

I think it fits well with combat...sure combat was all about maximising white damage, but then they were left in cold water with yellow. Two new talents that boost up yellow damage quite a bit is welcoming for the combat tree honestly. But I am still seriously out with surprize attacks...I dunno lol...I'll still spec it and see how well it does. But I may just ditch the point in surprize attacks in favor of Cold Blood.
But at least there's something there that looks good enough to spend points on lol.

41/20 ftw! After looking at screenies of the damage mutilate can do I am definately going that route. I will pick up Precision and duel-wield spec so my white damage will still be solid. No adrenaline rush, or as I like to think of it, my "rogue-taunting ability" as if I do not vanish before burning it I pull aggro every time :D But I can live without it due to some of the sweet 30+ talents in the assassination tree. No Seal fate is not one of them. Bad 5 point investment for Mutilate.

vitality got a boost now too
4% sta and 2% agl...not a bad little talent.
