Which do you like best. Small entry room Rugs, Carpets, or bare Hardwood Flooring?

Vote and then explain!

Hard wood all the way. With technology you can heat such things now a days as to remove the omfg it's cold reflex. It gives a sort of class, and well hardword is going to outlast anything else. You can also add rugs as needed to warm up various rooms.

Hardwood>all

Sounds like you're referring to only the front entrance? In that case, I'm down with having a small entry area rug or two, over top of the hardwood throughout the rest of my place.

And yes, there's plenty of options for in-floor hydronic heating, and each one of them will cost you five figures to add to any decent sized space (if done properly). Unless you're just talking some sort of cheesey electric filament sheet type solution.

I like hardwood myself. Although living in a loft with 12' ceilings (all the heat's way up there), 100 year old masonry construction, and a wicked cold climate makes for a very good reason to wear woollies or slippers at all times.

I love hardwood floors with a mixture of carpet and rugs, but it really does depend on the room. Of course carpet can be really disgusting, but I still prefer walking on it when I first wake up.

Hardwood. It's easier to maintain to me.

Bamboo. It's actually stronger in terms of pounds per square inch of trauma that it can withstand w/o deforming. It's available in many color options. Has an attractive natural grain. And it's a grass so it's more environmentally friendly in terms of renewability.

Otherwise, I'd go hardwood.

If it's a high traffic area, I'd recommend laminate flooring or engineered wood flooring. Real wood floors don't hold up well in high traffic areas (aesthetically).

Answering this question could cause me problems. Lets just say that softness matters most to me. Stuff that feels good to the touch.
