Here you are..
And yes.. that's me.
05 CBR1000RR setup for racing (bodywork not painted yet though)
157.9 RWHP but it's geared down to top out at around 170mph
This pic is just after the entrance to turn 2 at Spring Mountain Raceway in Pahrump, NV. Speed here is about 90mph

That is an awesome shot! I thought you were going to post RC airplanes or something.. :p
I think the camera is equally amazing for having a shutter faster than you.
What is the PSI on racing tires? I bet it's damned high...

Heh.. that's the lower resolution shot. The high-res is so clear you can almost read the time on my lap timer.
The tires are setup at 31 front / 28 rear cold.

Nice. Gonna get my bike license and buy my bro's 2005 Yamaha R6 this summer (he's also got a Ducati 999S for sale, but I'd rather not kill myself). Doubt I'll get into any racing this summer, probably next summer though.

Sweet Elid. I've taken a few Rally Racing "courses" or whatever and I am currently working on obtaining a 2 wheel drive Rally car (Haven't figured out exactly what I want but I have around 20k to spend on it) in order to start entering Amateur races up here in NH. I've done a few races in a co-workers vehicle.
Fucking expensive; but I love it.

For cheap, good fun Chevette Ice Racing is tough to beat: http://www.chevettesonice.ca/
The racing is really really fun, because no one much cares if there's a bit of bumping and grinding, and it's pretty inexpensive to get into. I gave it up just because it was so time consuming keeping a couple Chevette's running, and I make for a shitty mechanic.

90mph 2inches from pavement 2 wheels....fuck that noise.
I used to want a bike till my dad bought one and I rode around on it
Theres something wholy uncomforting about watching the ground flash by and knowing the slightest fuckup could re-arrange your shit. Or that a windy day could make for a REALLY bad day for you...

It's not so bad, but definitely a risk.
You can spend $7-20K and get a bike that will destroy $100,000 exotics. You can't beat that cost/performance.
I really expected the motorcycle manufactures to market bikes towards the gas prices. I can ride the bike aggressively and still get 30-40 mpg.
Norme it isn't necessarily the bike you have to be nervous about. It will stop, accelerate, corner better then most things. The bad part is that one person that doesn't see your headlight and pulls out when you thought they saw you. Words cannot describe the feeling when you have to react in those situations.

My uncle Steve had a motor cycle wreck last year he had a BMW he hit a deer. Skidded forever on his back the bike almost ran him over as it slid as well, he had to have reconstructive surgery on his hand and his ear.
He was in the hospial forever, he got out and bought another bike....stupid ass.

Is that one the nutty souped up ATVs? Those things are nuts. Rode a friends and it would spin wheels at 40MPH. Always thought that was cool

no.. it's http://www.arielmotor.co.uk/04/frames.htm
basically a 450kg car with a 220bhp engine in it. Apparently you can get a 300bhp engine if you want as well.

Elidroth, any recommendations for where and what to buy for gear? I'll be starting totally from scratch. Any good online places to purchase cheap? What brands are good, etc etc?

Ended up getting a Shoei X-Eleven from a US place on Ebay. Retailers and wholesalers continue to fuck us Canadians and not lower prices in response to the changing exchange rate, and subsequently that helmet is a grand locally, and about $550US on the net. Jeez, tough call.
For now just grabbed a light Icon Timax2 mesh jacket. I'm not planning on racing nor even much highway riding, when I do I'll get full leathers.

Helmets - Arai, Shoei, or Scorpion. I'm sponsored by Scorpion now so I'm using their new EXO-1000.
Boots - Sidi makes really nice stuff as does Alpine Stars. I have both. The Alpine Stars SMX-Plus is a great boot. I just got the Sidi Vortex Air boots last month since we're sponsored by Sidi now too.
Leathers - I have a Joe Rocket suit that's seen its share of pavement and it's still holding up strong. I also just got fitted for ACT Leathers (another sponsor).
Gloves - Alpine Stars. There are other brands but I like the way the GP-Pro's feel the best. They give good feedback and don't feel like you're wearing oven mitts.
Overall in this game you really DO get what you pay for.. except don't buy any of that signature replica crap. $1800 for the Dainese Repsol leathers? Fuck that noise. One get-off and their scuffed to hell anyway.
So I've painted the bike finally, although I'm probably going to re-do it sometime soon. I hate the way this came out (quality-wise.. not the colors).
