Alright, I need some serious help. (Involves LiteStep)

I got Windows XP for christmas this year, but while using Windows98, I used LiteStep.

Before I installed XP, I went in and fixed all the system.ini command lines to boot into explorer.exe (current shell line, oldshell line). I booted in, worked fine, so I installed XP.

Installation goes smooth, but when I boot up into XP, it boots up into LiteStep and a theme I haven't used in 4 months.

I go to system.ini, but now XP has it all different and I have no idea how to change what I boot up into (would like to boot back into explorer.)

So, what I'm getting at is, does anyone know where the command line is to fix this? I really need some help and have tryed everything except actually calling microsoft (don't feel like doing this, yet.) So, any help can be used.

(I don't have a problem uninstalling XP and going back to 98 to fix the problem, then reinstalling XP, if it involves that)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\Winlogon>shell

change that value from litestep.exe to "c:\windows\explorer.exe" (without the quotes) . That should work, maybe. If it loads up but doesnt wanna load a shell, ctrl+alt+del and run>explorer to load it.

Also, you probably know this but you can just ctrl+alt+del while on litestep, close litestep.exe, and run>explorer to load the windows explorer shell.

I don't think the switching the regedit worked, but I didn't know about the explorer thing.

The explorer thing works, and I guess I can live with that, so THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!!!

now that you have your explorer shell up and working, you may wanna consider uninstalling litestep and installing LSDistro (what I use). Supports XP, and has a nice utility that lets you switch themes and switch the boot theme. (probably why I havent bothered to find out where to change that, i'm sure you also have to edit some text on some ini file somewhere).

Anyway, later.
