Today's song: "Wasted Time (http://www.bagofmice.com/tunes/daily/14.5.08.mp3)" by Kings of Leon (from the album Youth And Young Manhood, SonyBMG/RCA/HandMeDown Records, 2003).

The rebirth of Southern Rock.

Shoulder-length hair, tight wrist-length jackets and men's hip-hugger jeans. Three brothers and one cousin, all with the last name Followill (and all omitting their first names in favor of their middle names in press material), they are sons of a wandering Pentecostal preacher who traveled the tent circuit in the American south. Home-schooled and living in camp grounds and other people's houses, they would become country musicians on the rodeo circuit before a record executive introduced them to rock and roll influences like the Rolling Stones and Neil Diamond.

You've heard their songs on video games (FIFA '04), movies ("Disturbia", "Stuck On You", "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby") and television commercials (Volkswagen), but the Kings of Leon are not a household name in the United States. A major festival and arena act in Europe, they often play clubs in the United States; despite three platinum albums they have only had one song in the US top-50.

Trivia: Their second album, "Aha Shake Heartbreak" was the album that led to Mark Russinovich's discovery of the infamous Sony 'rootkit'.

Thats the joke...

P.S. That people who don't actually listen to Skynyrd always spell it wrong ... The band is always complaining about people getting their name wrong ... That was an irony ... That "Leonard Strokes" came from the name "Leon" (Kings of Leon) when they opened for The Strokes on 2004 tour ...

nevermind
