I've finally decided I'd like to try a gaming keyboard just for the extra macro buttons ya know.
I'm looking at the G15 and while the screen might be nice, the G11 has more macro keys on the left side.
Anyone tried the G11 to see? As I said the screen that is on the G15 isn't the big seller for me. The macro keys and their placement are.

As stated earlier this evening... I've used both.
I prefer the G11 by far.

I had a G-11 until i spilled a cup of coffee into it..It's a great keyboard and very functional.

I love my Razer Lycosa, but it doesn't have all the extra macro keys. It has a great macro making software though, along with built memory that allows you to save the macros to the keyboard itself, and take it wherever.

There is 1 huge difference between the 2 keyboards that might effect your decision...the G11 is atleast a few inches wider than the g15...If you have a pullout keyboard drawer that's not very big the g11 might not fit

It's lame that they removed so many macro buttons from the G-15; the original G-15 was teh best.

There was a lot of problems with the screen on the old g15 breaking..The new screen is supposed to be much more reliable

My keyboard, nice eh? :)
Except mine doesn't have the stupid wrist rest in front of it, and is missing the left Windows key. Classic 104 button keyboard, low profile, small footprint.

hey they upgraded the one I had that just said "/consent" "accept res" and "loot corpse"
if only I could have had a Haxor Loot Corpse button my downtimes would have been halved
and besides...if you don't have food in your keyboard you are not a gamer anyway....macro keyboards??? big mac keyboards!! that's money right there

Funny that you mention that. I got the "old" G15 when it came out a while back and it was dead later that night after meeting the business end of a can of Coca-Cola. Shortest lifespan of any keyboard I've ever owned. The money from the settlement more than payed for the price of the keyboard so its all good.
Its definitely a nice keyboard though... However the new version is kinda nerfed of macro keys.

They actually make BLANK keyboards instead of spraypainted ones, you know.
I have the original G15 and love it!!

And I kinda want one. My touch typing needs work still, and not have the keys to cheat off of for initial hand placement would be beneficial. Also, just looks damned cool having it blank.

The thing is that it uses a mechanical switch as opposed to the membrane switches that most keyboards use.
Think back to the keyboards that used to make the "click" sound when you hit a key. I miss my old IBM keyboard. =/

thats really loud though, although I will say those were the best.

Yeah, nothing beats those old clicky keyboards. Loud and annoying yes, but the audible and tactile feedback were unparalleled. Plus, it makes you feel productive when you hear the constant clattering of keys.

Macro keys on left side of keyboard would cause me to leave "home" position on keyboard! Oh no!
I was worrying about key combinations I could use since I have so many spells.. came up with : ALT-W , ALT-E, ALT-R, ALT-S, ALT-D and ALT-C. They are easy to get to without looking or moving from home position.
Lonskils

Currently I use alt only for `, 1, and 2; it becomes tedious after that to use alt in conjunction in a fast paced environment to me at least.
Aurianne
08-18-2008, 03:57 PM
Well I use the ALT-WERSDFC key combos for things i need occasionally:
ALT-W Mount up
ALT-E Cleanse
ALT-R Taunt
ALT-S Stun
ALT-D Hammer of Wrath
ALT-F Exorcism
ALT-C Seal of Wisdom
So it hasn't been too tedious for me. For stuff I use often: 1-4, or alt-~1234. F1-F4.
