I dunno have many FF fans we have in Hoss, but I'm a huge one (getting really stoked for FFXIII in a few months...)

I am a huge fan, but I have never played the online version.

I personally hated FFXI (the first MMO) -- the controls were just too weird at the time and the game was way too EQ-like (grindy, absolutely required being in a group to get anything done, etc.) But I love FF, and I am holding out hope that this one may be fun. Plus I'd love to have an MMO on the PS3.

My favorite was Final Fantasy 7! I wanted Sephiroth's sword so badly.

Renshin... you make my brain hurt.

Also eagerly awaiting FF13 and, to a lesser extent, 14 depending on how they handled it. Already signed up. :-)

FFXI was my first MMO as well, had a great Linkshell(aka guild) and had quite a bit of fun... The graphics were pretty good and the environments and battles were really cool. I liked the macro system in that game much better as well, it really tied into the group abilities very well where you could pull off combos when done in a certain order, with others from the group, etc...

It's downfall had to be its grindy nature and absolute requirement that you grouped. All the groups went to the same leveling "areas" at the same time, so you were competing for pulls all the time... That ended up ruining it for me, then when WoW came along, that pretty much did it.

If they can update the interface a bit, reduce some of the grindy nature of it, I think I could be a really solid MMO. I'm going to apply for the beta for certain.

I have deep thoughts my friend. It was great raiding with you again on your druid. I do forgive you for your 800 dps....

I couldn't disagree with you more, dom. I think I hated 8 more than any other one. 6 was my favorite of the bunch.

Already signed up even though I hated FXI because of the deleveling. I have a full week off to play FFXIII =P

I liked FF8 : /
FFVI is teh best though!

I thought FFVII was generally regarded as the best? I never played that one, or VIII, all the way to the end, so my current favorite is X.

7 is the fan boy favorite, yes. Followed closely by 10... 8 is generally considered the worst (though how people come to that conclusion with 2 in existence is beyond me). I'm just a nut job who happens to find a lot more subtlety in the characters of 8 than in most of the rest of the series whereas everyone else sees Squall and cries /emo. That in itself is baffling considering how much emoing Cloud does in 7...

You're not alone, I think most of the more "intellectual" players generally like 8 a lot. At least that's what I've observed. It seemed interesting to me, I watched my roommates play through it back in the day.

I don't think it was really an emo problem, I mean hell, that's the whole point of FF. I think it may have been the more "realistic" character models, and the magic system was a bit off-putting to some.

Yea, I certainly don't hold qualms with people who didn't particularly enjoy the junction system, especially at the beginning of the game where it can be really grindy.

However, that is rarely the excuse I hear when this game cames up.

I think most regard FF7 as the best only because of the new fangled graphics. It was definitely good but it isn't my favorite at least not the American version.

P.S. FF8 was awesome because Phoenix Down + undead = dead.

P.P.S The above mentioned thing lead to me and my buddies FF quote of "And that little white ball... Is a little white ball of death."

It's an RPG for christ sake. There was more character development in an 80's afternoon special.

I really hated the non-combat art style of 7
