The U.S. government funded (perhaps it was NASA?) Supercollider that was out in the western desert?
It was some massive train tunnel thing that smashed atoms or something? I had a buddy working on his Aerospace Engineering PHd at the time and he was raving that it would be such a great scientific tool.
It used to be big news. Now I dont wtf is going on with it.
anyone?

the U. S. government was planning to build a superconducting supercollider (SSC) to investigate properties of matter beyond the reach of the machinery then available. Eventually the project was abandoned because its cost (almost one billion dollars a year for over eleven years) was considered exorbitant.

eventually the project was scrapped and named something different so they could continue replicating aliens
ps. ignore the strange flashes of light in the sky and the swirling pink vortex over our facility.
