Oh, way too many for just the 3 best... I'll pick a few more :p

In Flames, Blind Guardian, Charon, Children of Bodom, Chinchilla, Crematory, Dark Moor, Dark Tranquility, Dreamtide, Edguy, Eternal Tears of Sorrow, Falconer, Gamma Ray, Iced Earth, Manowar, Nightwish, Rhapsody, Rage, Norther, Sinergy, Sonata Arctica... umm, yeah.

To pick just three out of those (Which I picked out of twice as many), I'd have to pick what I listen to currently the most. It changes monthly though :p

1) In Flames
2) Norther
3) Dark Tranquility

Yeah! :D

For bands, I'd have to say:

1) Beatles
2) Led Zepplin
3) Rolling Stones
4) Pink Floyd

I know, I know...so I picked 4, sue me! I'm not like stuck in the 60's and 70's, (truth be told, I'm stuck in the 80's) I love pretty much all music except for country and classical. But those 4 bands are pretty much the ones that no one will ever top.

And, someone mentioned most legendary guitarists and no one mentioned JIMMY PAGE yet? OMG!

This list is the biggest pile of steaming horse shit ever  Obviously whoever wrote it was more concerned with who got radio time than about who was actually a talented guitarist. Not that there arent some talented musicians on the list.....but THAT'S the top 100? Give me a break heh.

Eomer
09-02-2003, 07:32 AM
Yeah, that list is shit. And I don't think it's shit so much because of who isn't on there, or people's order. It's some of the people that ARE on there that demonstrate it's uselessness. I have never played a note on a guitar in my life, so I am not exactly the best judge of talent or artistic merit. But shouldn't they wait, I dunno, a decade or two before putting Jack White anywhere on the list? And while I love the sounds that Tom Morello gets out of his guitar, it's mostly gimmickry and effects rather than talent. *shrug*

The Beatles were miles above anyone before or since. I can't peg 2 other bands that have accomplishments worthy of the same league.
Some superstars imho though, of my generation, are
Pink Floyd
Bruce Springsteen and the East Street Band
The Rolling Stones
Cream
REM
The Grateful Dead
Genesis
Black Sabbath
Stevie Ray Vaughn
Crosby Stills Nash & Young

I probably already posted somewhere in this thread heh. Difficult to know what to say as far as the 3 best bands ever goes. The 3 most popular bands ever? The 3 bands that I feel had the most influence ever? Or just the 3 best bands as far as who I in particular like?

The best in the influential category is difficult.....but I would say...

1- The Beatles
2- Elvis Presley
3- Louis Armstrong

The popularity contest?

1- Again...The Beatles
2- Micheal Jackson
3- Tossup between Elvis, Led Zepplin and The Stones

What I like and consider to be the best bands.

1- Dream Theater
2- Nevermore
3- Iced Earth

Of course this is all based on modern times mostly.....hard to discount musicians like Motzart and Beethoven even if they aren't "bands" per se.

I would help you cut off one of those nuts if it would help me go back and see Floyd at their peak.

My friend got to see them on the Pulse tour. Not exactly at their "peak", but it would still have been an awesome show. Too bad that Roger Waters left though :/

I got to see the 'Momentary Lapse of Reason' and 'Synchronicity' tours so I'm kinda biased towards Pink Floyd and Police/Sting:)

Hrm...I kindof like horn and guitar but not really what I would call a ska guy....Cake and No Doubt (yeah I just like Stefani cuz she's my age and married or not, she will be mine, Garth...she will be mine...)
