I'd just like to share some of my favorite bands with everyone ...
Devin Townsend - Prog meets classic heavy metal meets general musical godliness. My all-time favourite.

Thought Industry - Earlier albums are Fugazi meets Prog, more recent albums are Radiohead meets Faith No More

Arcturus - Most recent album is somewhat proggy, somewhat electronic, but very cool. Unique.

Bumblefoot - Bording on Nu-metal at times ... but Ron Thal, the guitarist / vocalist / songwriter is a God. Ron shreds better than most everyone, sings like Mike Patton, and writes painfully catchy music.

Ulver - Trip-hop, techno, trancy .. this track isn't indicative, but it's a start. Each Ulver album is different. Their second disk was actually raw black metal, followed by a release that was completely acoustic .. etc.

Winds - Dark Prog .. something like EverGrey, with less embarassing vocals.
