Are gas prices as high for everyone else? :|

I still pay less for a gallon of gas then I would water or orange juice. To me gas is still very reasonably priced.

I've noticed people start to complain regularily when it goes above 1.60 for a gallon of regular. It's also when "drive-offs" (getting gas and leaving without paying for it" start to increase. Here in Ohio they're up around 1.67 for a gallon of the cheap stuff. Sucks, but if you're not getting gauged by gas prices it's something else. Like condoms, friggin 9 bucks for a box, fuck that, I'm gonna hit me up some saran wrap.

heh, wah, in Edmonton (cheapest gas prices in Canada typically) it's about .76 for a liter.

.76 X 3.8 L/gal / 1.51 (exchange rate) = $1.91/gal

Most places in Canada it's .80+ a litre.

It was under, or near, a dollar when I was in High School just 4 years ago... so, it's hard to get used these prices cause that is what I 'grew up' paying :(

$2.09 a gallon here for premium (which I have to run). Average price for a gallon of regular around here is over $1.90

Heh, if you think Canadians get screwed for gas, as Vestax showed, Europeans get screwed twice as hard :)

And we DO have oil, which is why you won't hear me complaining about the price of oil. The higher it is, the better business is. Yay for $30+/barrel oil!

The cheapest gas station prices I have seen so far here in San diego are at Arco. Regular unleaded costs $1.805 per gallon. Prices are still rising. I paid $1.80 for premium about a month ago.

Yeah but from what I was reading canadians follow the taxing policy where they add road taxes etc to gas prices instead of taking it out of income and sales taxes. So the people who drive the most (ie use the most gas) pay the most for road taxes.

So, supposedly you pay less in taxes but more at the pump. I haven't seen a break down in a few years but...

40% of the price of gas is tax in Canada, roughly. Oh, and then add 7% to the final price as well. So it ends up being just under 50% tax, I believe.
