Applied for beta in Horizons, Dark and Light and Realms of Torment. Might check out Shadowbane in the meantime despite all the bad press floating around. AC2 was kinda fun for like a month and then I realized it sort of sucked.

It's easy to have a life and do all these things.. you just have to balance it out and know when to log off (or fall asleep at the KB in Plane of Water).

Having never played any of the previous Warcraft games I haven't followed or been much interested in WoW. If enough of my online compatriots give it a shot though I probably will too. It's funny how finally feeling free of EQ has opened up my eyes to a whole slew of other gaming options.

I'm off to the mall in a few to pick up Shadowbane because a few old friends of mine say it's worth it. Apparently from everyone that I've talked to that has experience with it you either love it or you hate it. Going to be on the scorn server if anyone's interested in my flavor of the month game ;)

Drakky, EVE Online is a MMORPG based in space. I don't know that much about it, to be honest, I avoid learning about games before I play them, but it seems to be extremely polished. All I have done is create a character, and I was blown away by how cool the process was. You can completely customize your character's face, hard to explain how, but I was very impressed.

WoW is suppose to enter beta sometime this year. I don't think it's that far off, actually. The reason for the lack of information about many of the races, etc. is probably due to major events that occur in the WC3 Expansion that would ruin the storyline if they were said to be included in WoW.

actually my attendance has been crap and ive been out almost every night. however, its probably just me who cant stand all the "i quit" "i quit" "i quit" "i go out all the time" "you guys arent still playing eq every night i hope" "i have a life now" condescending comments that escape certain retireers mouthes *every* time they enter a thread. what i LOVE about it though is most of these people ended up coming back soon after. so i guess grats to drakky for sticking it out, can spare me the extras though.

I played EverQuest for roughly 3 years? Maybe nearing 4? I still have a lot of friends I talk to from EverQuest and I like to keep up to date on how the people I knew for these 3 years are doing. And I'm sure some of them would like to know what I'm up to, too.

As for questioning if everyone still plays EQ or not, so the fuck what? Is it a crime to bring up if I question if people still play EverQuest? I'm glad people are still having fun playing EverQuest, I personally just find it amusing people can still be playing so long.

I often questioned that myself, I was surprised you played as long as you did, or myself or any of the other's that played from way back that are still playing. Personally I had to take a reality check and justify to myself if I could carry on in the game vs the quality time I could spend with my friends and family.

I think that all of us(myself definitely included) have a tendency to take both ourselves and our video game hobbies *cough* addictions...too seriously. I guess I find it funny to watch when that seriousness turns into a poop throwing contest over trivial stuff :D

In regards to the quitting/not quitting...omg how can you still play this game issue? Hell I spent near enough 4 years wrapped up in it myself and even if it did finally run its course for me, I can more than understand that for many it hasn't yet. I'm just glad that I still have these boards with which to keep in touch somewhat with the people I shared that EQ experience with.

For those that HAVE moved on....I did wind up buying Shadowbane. It looks pretty cool at least from my first impessions. The graphics aren't stellar and the UI takes some getting used to especially coming from the EQ interface but from a gameplay and content perspective I'm pretty pleased so far. Looks like decent balance and plenty to do to keep you occupied. Leveling isn't so easy as to be trivial but nothing compared to the slow going of the mid to high levels of EQ, if my limited experience and the words of friends at a much higher level can be believed.

I might be in the minority of men here...but the thoughts of living the life of a porn star really makes my skin crawl.
