Lord of Ultima

Thanks a lot Fir, with the FB time-waster games I currently play (Mafia Wars, Castle Age, Kingdom of Camelot) now I can add Lord of Ultima to that list too.

It feels very much like a browser based game that has been around for a while, Tribal Wars, with Ultima have tweaked a few things and it is much more graphically improved. But the core game feels very similar, three resource type, building upgrades, similar troop types, even the buildings are very similar.

Kingdom of Camelot on FB borrows heavily from this game type as well, but KoC follows the FB-game creed that to do well you must constantly annoy your friends with stupid game requests.

Lord of Ultima looks promising, will see how it pans out... I'm on world 5. Not in an alliance yet, but if it is anything like the other games of this sort, you don't want to stay solo for too long before people start harassing/farming you.

Another browser game I played recently was Legends of Zork, kind of an RPG style game. It was way too grindy for my tastes, and the stat/upgrade system was too confusing. Plus after you made a few levels you would pretty much have to heal after every adventure/fight. It overly favors or requires that you spend money on the game.

Interesting, PvP is a choice in Lord of Ultima, I like that. And unlike the generic "Barbarian village" of other games there are dungeons. For those playing the game, any advice for the new player?

I had just barely scratched the surface yesterday and had sent a raiding party to a dungeon. When I logged on last night to see how that went, the servers were having issues. So I dunno!

Oh yeah, the game just launched a couple days ago, so its all still pretty new

It's an EA game... Anyway I just made a character on World 5. Valdis was actually available.

I'm on World 3. I think it's fun. Much better than Ikariam that I have been playing. That fact that you don't have to pvp and that it is a choice is AWESOME!

I was under the assumption that you have to pvp, as people will randomly attack you.

From what it sounds like if you don't build a castle you aren't PVP eligible.

I play tanoth, you just set it and let it go for a bit then see if you won. don't have to be at the computer at all times. I like that.

A browser base game that I wouldn't mind playing is SRE or even BRE. :D

How do you explore dungeons and for that matter where do you find them.

I was on world 3, but I'm going to start a new one on world 5 now that I've learned the ropes.
