HAHAHAHAHAH!
ROFL
hahaha
I've seen this passed around.
Sadly, isn't true. Do a real search in google, you get a bunch of stuff about Joan of Arc and Napoleon.
Yeah thats not my image. (I made up the post subject though!)
I knew it wasn't true though, because google will show results matching only two of the phrase words as well. (military and victories)
The irony is that the top results are all about google not showing anything for the query "french military victories"
Bleh, this thread is like taking candy from the retarded kid-ranger. There are so many good things to tease the french about, but this is the king of all dead horses!
LOL@!(*
Yeah, cause god knows they didn't control virtually all of Europe less than 200 years ago right!
And yeah, I know this was meant as a joke. But unfortunately due to Maxim and The Simpson's, Americans have this impression that France has been getting slapped around in wars consistently. Obviously, that's completely false. But whatever :)
LOL
ROFLMAO! I love a good french bashing
Here you go Zobb:

Site was brought to my attention by some dorm friends.
"Going to war without France is like going duck hunting without your accordian."
-- Donald Rumsfield, US Secretary of Defense
LMAO!
LOL
While that is a real quote it was not said by Rumsfield. It was said by a retired state department official. It is wrongly attributed to more prominent officials to add bite.
Yeah, I have seen it linked to Schwarzkopf, or however you smell it.
Er....
... but they HAVE been bitch slapped around since pretty much Roman times.. afterall despite Napoleon briefly rolling over a good portion of Europe, he did happen to impale himself on not only the Russian winter but also some quaint place called Waterloo ...Quote:

Back in my college days I was an ardent history buff and did some research on pre-WWII european news reporting and public perception, was fascinating to read story after story on the invicible French Army, amazing modern French technology, and the wonders of the Maginot line. During the late 1930's France was seen as the preeminent continental European power. If you ever visit a library with a collection of old LIFE magazines, the 1930-1939 pre-war issues are a hoot! The world felt France WAS a military jugernaut.
Let me see, how long did it take for Germany to roll thru France (and how much shorter would have been without the British expeditionary forces being present . . .)
Now .... if only France would sign a mutual defense treaty with Saddam.....
