Thread: How to depress yourself

    How to depress yourself

How to get depressed about your /played in WoW.

721 Days played at $10.00 an hour (for the sake of just something, the amount is really much higher, but just to prove a point) is $173,040 over 5 years... that's $34,608 dollars a year before taxes, lost to playing an MMO. When's the expack?

Now if only you could find a way to make an extra $34k on your off hours that didn't involve a second job...

Sadly, I didn't even add in any other toons besides Lons, so this is pretty much taking that into consideration, and current salary etc etc, it is closer to half a million dollars lost playing WoW. Excuse me while I shoot myself.

True Lons, but if everyone thought that way we'd all have 2nd and 3rd jobs. Life isnt' just about making money, as it simply allows us to do what we want.

I do put a high value on "me" time with my gaming friends.

How many hours did you have into your wizard in EQ?

Yea, I mean it's only really depressing if you don't have a job in the first place and your playing WoW in lieu of one.

I can't really use EQ Lons as a comparison, there was no AFK out so I would leave Lons logged in for days and just come back to her after work.

Oh I did that for about 3 years while going to college and being in a huge depression, most of the hours on Lons were in the span of those 3 years.

I think of it the other way though.

How much would another hobby cost me? Comparing it with even my top 5, WoW is by far the cheapest thing I do per hour.

Just become a CEO you can play WoW, get hookers, a trophy wife and make millions while doing less good than a lobotomized lab rat.

Playing WoW is a lot better than spending your ENTIRE FUCKING SUMMER in the hospital.

Note: The hospital stay did allow me to miss the harvest season on my brother-in-law's farm, so that was a very small bonus. Those sheep can go fuck themselves.

    P.S. Out of hospital *again*

P.P.S. Not that I was fucking the sheep.

P.P.P.S. Not that I had *anything* to do with the sheep. I didn't even shear them. I was usually way too busy offing feral cats to do anything with the sheep.

P.P.P.P.S. Be good to me. If I need to, I can become directly involved in America's food production, and no one wants that.

AMEN! On it being better then being in the hospital. I have experienced that far too much. Sometimes I got my mmo fix while in the hospital (either hosp. wifi, tethering). Was always interesting explaining to some doctors or nurses etc that walked in.

My EQ time feels far less wasted for most of it anyhow. I don't know maybe its just because of my age at the time, but I think its more then that. EQ though it was a game I spent my time in I did make friends that I still associate with today. Though I have done it in other games, it was on a way smaller scale. Some peoples /played might be a 300 days played. Though playing for 7 years 5 of them when most of the days played occur could be when too young to even work. BUT yes /played has the ability to inspire sadness so just have to make a excuse for it .

This. Not that there is much to spend in the first place. However it is the cheapest hobby/thing I enjoy. Compared to say my car etc, a mmo of any variety is a cheaper then the ///M...

I dunno, if you factor in the computer and internet connection, this hobby becomes pretty expensive!

Yeah, but the computer and internet are useful for porn also.

Lons that would be true if you had a connection only for gaming. Can you imagine not having an internet connection?
