Origin/EA are giving a way a free game as an apology to the funked up SimCity launch:

I would have preferred a smoother launch, or even better an offline-mode, but it is a nice gesture at least.

SimCity is still pretty fun, I need to create my own private region so I have control over all of the cities. Regions with random players are somewhat of a mixed bag. I could more-carefully pick my next region, but you really need to look at the other cities to balance what you build with what they already have.

The whole "Region" thing is kinda cool. I do kinda miss building the one giant Mega-opolis though

Are the servers stable yet? I wanted to pick this one up but everything I've read has been that you can't play.

Yeah, it has been much more stable lately, as far as I can tell.
